How Does MegaSPEED Work?
MegaSPEED optimizes the delivery of Web pages and content to your computer by caching and compressing data directly from our network to increase the speed of dial-up connections.
With MegaSPEED, web sites will download and display for the first time in about half the time normally required on a 56K line. Subsequent page loads are delivered even faster.
This is a client/server model where servers are deployed and await client web page requests. Your MegaSPEED client software will request and receive content from the Web Acceleration servers in the form of an HTTP proxy and deliver it to your browser.
The servers are designed to service client requests by fetching web content from its server cache and/or web source, compressing and caching the content. The server delivers this content to your computer in a compressed form that minimizes the amount of data that needs to be delivered and increases the speed of delivery. The client software then decompresses the data to be displayed on your computer in your browser.
The client software installed on your computer is designed to decompress the data that is compressed from the MegaSPEED servers. The client software also utilizes its own local cache to serve images and text that has not changed since the last time the web page was visited. The content is then displayed on your computer utilizing both of these compression and caching techniques. The end result is that web page load times are faster by a factor of 2 - 5 times.
