Customer Support Home General Connection Issues


STEP ONE

  1. Go to My Computer, double-click on Control Panel

  2. Double-click on Modems

  3. Click on Properties

  4. Turn the Max Speed down to 57600

  5. Click on the Connection tab at the top

  6. Click on Advanced on lower right side

  7. On the right side, click on Software instead of hardware

STEP TWO (Make sure you have Windows CD or Recovery Disk before you go any further)

  1. Double-click on Network

  2. Check for: Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial up Adapter, TCP/IP (make sure you have these three things under configuration)

  3. Get rid of: VPN, Virtual Private Network, AOL, AOL Adapter

STEP THREE

  1. Under CONTROL PANEL double-click on Add/Remove Programs

  2. Click on Windows SETUP tab on the top

  3. Click on Communications to Highlight it.

  4. Click on Details.

  5. Uncheck Dial Up Networking

  6. Click OK

  7. It will ask to restart the computer, choose YES. After it restarts, go back to Control Panel if it hasn't automatically loaded.

  8. Repeat steps 1,2, and then click on Communications to highlight it, and click Details

  9. Put a check in Dial-Up Networking and click OK and click OK on windows setup

  10. It will then ask to restart the computer. Click Yes to restart the computer.
