Changes to the Constitution should not be made lightly and much thought and work went into this effort to put the national government back to where the founding fathers said it should be. I have my own ideas about making Congress more responsive such as a flexible and fair term
limits clause and taking away from Congress the power to give themselves raises and perks not available to all Americans. This is accomplished by having the States pay the salaries and benefits to the Senators and Representatives representing their State.
This amendment and the ideas behind them will not work unless people take responsibility for themselves and are weaned away from government programs. The States will have a lot of responsibility placed on them because they can not depend on federal money anymore. But the ultimate responsibility rests with you. So here are the amendments starting as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution which is the primary Amendment to eliminate many of the prior Amendments that have taken away personal and State Rights and puts limits on Federal power. This is a project that I started several years ago when I first started to realize what was happening to our country and I started to move from a border line liberal to conservative/libertarian. I was becoming concerned how government was changing from the servant of the people to the master. The Constitution is the greatest document in human history, bar none, and it is distressing to see how it is being abused, twisted, and ignored especially by the national leaders of low character we have today.
The only way to kill such a beast is to cut off the food supply; it feeds on our taxes and drags down the GNP by 40% +. The sixteenth amendment (income tax) will be repealed and there are limits on what can be taxed, allowing the people to keep and save more of their income. Lastly, States also have the right to demand that the national government release the vast amounts of land it holds back to the States, but the States must pay fair market value for it.
